MeRT Featured by The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times: “Healing Sgt. Warren”

March 2, 2020 by Dr Spencer Miller

Former Army staff Sergeant Jonathan Warren returned from Iraq a changed man. He was injured when the vehicle exploded after running over a bomb. Jon suffered physical injuries from the blast, but also went through heart-breaking post-traumatic stress from his own experience, and  from not being able to get his fellow soldier out of a burning vehicle. Jon's journey through healing was picked up by both The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times.  After years of going through various therapies, Jon learned of the MeRT treatment that was being offered by The Brain Treatment Center in California. Jon said, "When I came in there, I was a mess. I was terrified of not getting better." In an interview with The Washington Post, Jon talked about his treatment and how he felt afterwards. "It was … [Read more...] about MeRT Featured by The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times: “Healing Sgt. Warren”

MeRT Featured on Dr. Mark Hyman Podcast

November 11, 2019 by Dr Spencer Miller

The famous podcast, "The Broken Brain," promoted by Dr. Mark Hyman, featured utilizing MeRT for treatment of PTSD, Concussions and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). If you or someone you know has experienced any of these conditions it is certainly worth listening to this.   Dr. Erik Won, from our Brain Treatment Center in California, speaks about utilization of this technology to treat members of the military who have had traumatic brain injuries, concussions or who have experienced PTSD as a result of their experiences, with many incredible successes.  With other repercussions that can occur, for both military and veterans, this is incredibly important. For example, suicide is at twice the rate for veterans, with approximately 17 veteran deaths per day. Working Yourself into a Stroke

October 12, 2018 by Dr Spencer Miller

Depression

A recent article on Very WellMind.com reported on a University of Michigan study which found that men who were more physiologically reactive to stress (as measured by high blood pressure) were 72% more likely to suffer a stroke.  A recent study of 6553 Japanese male and female workers examined job stress levels and found that men (though not women) in jobs that involved high demands and lower levels of personal control (in other words, more stressful jobs) were at greater stroke risk, even after controlling for variables like age, educational attainment, occupation, smoking status, alcohol consumption, physical activity, and study area. One study measured levels of adaptation to stress—how well participants managed stress, and the associated risk. They found that those who had … [Read more...] about Working Yourself into a Stroke

Autism Treatment Study

October 12, 2018 by Dr Spencer Miller

A recent study done in April 2014, published in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, had some very exciting results and conclusions.  Autism represents a multi-factorial highly prevalent disorder of the developing human neocortex with no clear treatments. Trans-magnetic stimulation with customized frequency has been safe in the treatment of certain frontal lobe behavioral disorders. We hypothesize behavioral improvements in autism behaviors via TMS with customized frequency modulation. 44 patients underwent TMS with customized frequency modulation. Serial EEGs were used to modify frequency delivered using resting alpha frequency combined with resting heart rate. Each child had a verified diagnosis of autism documented by pediatrician and/or psychiatrist as per the DSM IV … [Read more...] about Autism Treatment Study
