Brain Optimization

brain optimization

Brain Optimization Can Provide the Mental Clarity You’ve Been Missing

The dictionary defines optimization as “the act, process, or methodology of making something functional or as effective as possible.” And when it comes to your brain, you certainly want it to function at the highest possible level — your success in life depends in no small measure on how well you can use your brain!

Yet, so many things can cause the brain to lose functionality. These can include chronic stress, daily demands from work and life, and health issues, not to mention the natural process of aging. This can show up in your life in a multitude of ways. Some examples include:

  • brain optimizationPoor concentration
  • Burnout
  • Fatigue or lack of energy
  • Brain fog
  • Learning disabilities
  • Memory issues
  • Lack of motivation
  • Lack of analytical capacity
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Reduced ability to handle stress
  • Overall feelings of dullness or numbness
  • Feeling like you’ve lost your competitive edge

If you’re experiencing any of these issues, we have the solution. Neurologist Dr. Spencer Miller has brought MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, to Dallas, Texas. Simply stated, we use a magnetic field to stimulate and balance brain function, guided by highly sophisticated imaging and diagnostics.

MeRT: A New Approach to Brain Optimization

MeRT. is a cutting-edge treatment protocol that combines technologies of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS, an FDA cleared therapy), Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), and Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG). With this combination of technologies, we can analyze and formulate treatments that are tailored for each individual’s unique brain pattern.

While most TMS treatments deliver stimulation to one area of the brain at a fixed frequency for all patients, MeRT is more evolved. Through the use of the qEEG, we can precisely map any discrepancies in brain frequencies. By doing so, we can deliver TMS to the exact areas of the brain which are not operating optimally. To do this, we use a magnet to gently stimulate these areas of the brain, which can lead to improved communication and functionality.

This non-invasive, drug-free treatment can optimize your brain performance and make you feel like yourself again!

“We’re trying to make the brain operate as efficiently as possible.”

“The brain is a big ball of organized electricity. The easier way to understand what exactly we do is [to] use an analogy of a symphony. If a symphony conductor stood up and had everybody playing A and all of a sudden one of the first violins ends up playing an F minor or another note, that’s what we call pathology or asynchrony or some sort of damage to the brain. And our goal is to be the conductor and correct it and make everybody play exactly the same notes or at least notes in harmony.

“We measure the electrical signals in the brain in frequency and location and neural networks as to where things actually occur in the brain. And when we see on an EEG [electroencephalogram] that there is an abnormal signal somewhere in the brain or a low frequency or discrepancy or asynchrony in frequencies… it’s very similar to the first violin playing the wrong note.

“The brain has an intrinsic frequency and… all of us have a unique intrinsic frequency — it’s different for everybody. And if you can align all of the brain tissue to operate under that same frequency that’s called synchrony coherence efficiency. …We’re trying to make the brain operate as efficiently as possible.”

–Dr. Spencer O. Miller, Neurologist, Owner and Medical Director of Brain Treatment Center Dallas

Contact our New Patient Coordinator for more Information

When many patients come to see us, they have lost hope as they don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. It’s rewarding as a practitioner to be able to help so many people realize a much better “normal” and a greatly improved quality of life.

If you have questions or would like to discuss our Treatment Protocols, we offer a free consultation by phone. During this phone consultation, our New Patient Coordinator will take the time to listen and explain. She can answer most questions and discuss our protocols, scheduling, fees, and other information. She is happy to assist you in any way she can.

Please call us to get more information about how our clinic and Dr. Miller may be able to help you with your health goals and to schedule an initial screening to see if MeRT may be an option.

Insurance Coverage

Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance, nor file it on your behalf. However, we can provide you with CPT codes and a billing breakdown that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement for conditions that have been FDA-cleared such as Major Depressive Disorder and OCD. Individuals have, on occasion, been successful in receiving reimbursement for EEGs and clinical evaluations, and possibly other elements for treatment, depending on the individual’s coverage. However, it has been our experience that Medicare does not reimburse any of the treatment costs.

For conditions other than Major Depressive Disorder and OCD, because treatment is considered “off-label,” insurance rarely reimburses any of the costs associated with treatment.

Starting as a New Patient

When you start as a new patient at the Brain Treatment Center Dallas, you will initially need two appointments, approximately two days apart, and about an hour in length each. These appointments will be used to determine if Dr. Miller feels you can truly benefit from the MeRT program and, if so, to develop a tailored treatment plan based on your test results. Once we complete the testing and consultation, you are not obliged to begin treatment. This is something that you will determine once you have seen your test results and consulted with Dr. Miller.

At the first appointment, we will go over your reasons for seeking help, your medical history, your health goals, and all your symptoms. You will then begin initial testing, which will involve an EEG and an EKG. These are completely painless and done right in our office. Your information is then sent over to our scientific and clinical teams, who will carefully analyze the results and determine the current state and functioning of the brain together with Dr. Miller

We use a patented, scientific approach with the neurophysiological data gathered through testing to then develop a highly customized treatment plan aimed at encouraging healthy brain communication and function

At your second appointment, you will meet with Dr. Miller for a consultation. He will discuss your test results and whether he and our scientific team feel that results may be achieved for you through our treatment protocol. This appointment will also serve to answer any additional questions you may have. After that second appointment, Dr. Miller will lay out your individualized treatment plan and the protocols follow for the best results. At that point, you may discuss fees, length of treatment, and schedules, and then decide whether to go forward and schedule your treatment.
