COVID-19 After Care

We’re three years past the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. And while we’re still learning about its after-effects, we now know that some of the lingering symptoms can be treated.

If you’ve had a mild case of the virus, chances are that you will recover fairly quickly and not have lasting effects. However, if you’ve had a moderate-to-severe case, and/or you’ve been hospitalized, it’s likely that you are experiencing some after-effects. These can include:

  • Depression
  • PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Brain Fog
  • Other cognitive problems
  • Short-term memory issues

These after-effects can be debilitating, and some can last a long time. Plus, certain medical conditions can also extend recovery time. These include diabetes, asthma, or a compromised immune system.

However, we can help treat these after-effects at Brain Treatment Center Dallas. And we can do it without drugs, surgery, or any other invasive procedure.

MeRT for COVID-19 After-effects

MeRT can help relieve some of the debilitating symptoms arising from COVID after-effects. These can include depression, insomnia, memory issues, and much more.

Here, Dr. Spencer Miller uses MeRT to treat the after-effects of COVID. And MeRT patients report improvement in each of their symptoms.

While MeRT isn’t a cure for any damage COVID-19 may have done to the brain, it can help ease some of the pervasive symptoms originating from the brain. And these symptoms can linger as patients heal from the virus.

Additionally, COVID can cause inflammation in brain tissue — which MeRT treatment can also reduce.

Please note that we cannot see patients who are still testing positive for the virus. However, we are happy to see you once you have recovered from the acute phase of COVID-19, and are testing negative.

COVID-19 Affects Everyone Differently

Your brain is as unique as your fingerprint — and a virus will affect your brain differently than another person’s brain. That’s what makes our approach so revolutionary.

The MeRT protocols use brainwave analysis to isolate specific areas of the brain that are not functioning or communicating the way they should.

We then use this data to develop a targeted, personalized approach to bring about healthy brain communication.

This individualized treatment, using specialized equipment, gently stimulates distinct areas of your brain that may lead to improved function.

How Does MeRT Work to Relieve COVID-19 After-effects?

MeRT is a drug-free, non-invasive, tailored treatment for COVID after-effects.

MeRT stands for Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy.

This emerging technology is non-surgical, non-invasive, and drug-free. In essence, we use MeRT to reprogram abnormal electrical signals in your brain to ultimately modify behavior.

We first obtain a qEEG, a diagnostic study that measures the pattern of electrical signals in your brain. This study not only tells us what is not functioning properly in your brain but also helps us determine how it should be operating.

Using this information, we then create a precision treatment protocol using TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation). This is a set of magnets placed on your scalp which send electrical signals back into your brain.

These gentle pulses cause re-organization of the brainwave signals, stimulating and organizing the function of neurons. This process is called neuromodulation.

Starting as a New Patient at the Brain Treatment Center Dallas

Dr. Spencer Miller
Neurologist Dr. Spencer Miller has worked with hundreds of patients using MeRT and will oversee your treatment.

When you start as a new patient for COVID after-effects treatment, you will initially need two appointments, approximately two days apart. Each appointment will last about an hour.

These appointments will determine if Dr. Miller feels you can truly benefit from the MeRT program. If so, we will then develop a tailored treatment plan based on your test results.

Once you have done the testing and consultation, you are not obliged to begin treatment. This is something that you will determine once you have seen your test results and consulted with Dr. Miller.

First Appointment: Consultation and Testing

At the first appointment, we will go over your reasons for seeking help, your medical history, your health goals, and all of your symptoms. You will then have your initial testing with an EEG and an EKG. These are both completely painless and easy, done right in our office.

We then send your information and test results to our scientific and clinical teams. Together with Dr. Miller, they will carefully analyze the results and determine the current state and functioning of your brain.

We use a patented, scientific approach with the neurophysiological data gathered through testing to develop a highly customized treatment plan aimed at encouraging healthy brain communication and function.

Second Appointment: Consultation with Dr. Miller

At your second appointment, you will meet with Dr. Miller for a consultation. He will discuss your tests and whether he and our scientific team feel you can achieve results through our treatment protocol. This appointment will also give you the chance to get all your questions answered.

After your second appointment, Dr. Miller will develop your personal treatment plan and the protocols to be followed for the best results. At that point, you may discuss fees, length of treatment, and schedules, and then decide whether to go forward and schedule your treatment.
