What Is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is one of the most widely recommended therapies for children with autism spectrum disorder. It uses evidence-based techniques to teach social, communication, and daily living skills, all through consistent, structured reinforcement.

ABA can help your child:

  • Improve communication
  • Reduce disruptive behaviors
  • Learn new routines
  • Build greater independence

Many families rely on ABA as a key part of their autism support plan. But sometimes progress can be slow—or stall completely.

What then?

ABA and MeRT: When ABA Isn’t Enough on Its Own.

Even with the best therapists and programs, some children struggle to focus, regulate emotions, or keep the skills they’ve worked so hard to learn. This can be discouraging for families and difficult for the child.

At Brain Treatment Center Dallas, we offer MeRT® (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy) as a supportive, brain-based therapy that works alongside ABA to help unlock more consistent progress.

What Is MeRT?

MeRT is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that uses advanced brainwave analysis (EEG) and magnetic stimulation to support healthier brain activity.

How it works:

  • A brain scan helps identify areas of dysregulation
  • We then develop a personalized treatment plan
  • Magnetic pulses gently stimulate specific regions to help improve organization, focus, and communication

Why Combine ABA and MeRT?

ABA helps children build behaviors. MeRT helps the brain get ready to learn.

By improving brain function first, MeRT may:

  • Increase attention during therapy
  • Reduce meltdowns and sensory overload
  • Support better communication
  • Enhance outcomes from ABA sessions

Families often report that after starting MeRT, their child becomes more engaged and makes faster progress in ABA.

What Parents Are Seeing…

He has always been a fast learner, but after treatment, he has been smashing all of his goals with his therapy.”

“We did six weeks of MeRT, and the last session finished last week. His therapist is shocked at how much he is talking now.”

“His speech therapist says she is seeing much more progress compared to before and behavior has gotten way better in school.”
